You are not alone
Most families find their way to me after they
have already tried everything else.
1
"I want my child to be happy."
2
"I want my child to get a good education and go to college."
3
"I want my child to grow into a responsible adult who can manage the ups and downs of life."
You may have consulted other professionals, educators and parents, only to
feel more frustrated than before. There is another way forward, and it starts
with understanding your child's unique mind.
How I can help
Care for the whole child, and the
whole family
Dr. Snyder is first and foremost a licensed clinical psychologist. She supports the emotional life of young
people and, because learning and wellbeing are deeply connected, their educational growth as well.
Psychological Care
Therapy for Children & Adolescents
A warm, individualized space to work through anxiety, depression, OCD, social anxiety, and the internalizing struggles young people often carry quietly.
Giftedness & the Gifted Experience
Support for the intense emotions, perfectionism and anxiety that can come with being very gifted, so a bright mind becomes a source of confidence rather than pressure.
Executive Functioning
For many years, Dr. Snyder has helped children, teens and families build executive functioning skills: planning, organizing, focus, follow-through, and managing time and tasks.
High-Functioning ASD
"ASD" stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Snyder works with verbal, high-functioning young people to build social understanding, confidence and a strong sense of identity.
Managing Today's Pressures
Help with test anxiety, social anxiety, online addiction and social media overuse, so young people can navigate a demanding world with resilience.
Parental Coaching
Helping families understand their children's unique needs and behaviors. This is the heart of the "We All Need A Launchpad"™ team approach, where parents are partners from day one.
Educational Support
Advanced Educational Therapy
Far more than tutoring. A relational approach for students from 3rd grade through college that addresses how a young person learns, not just what they need to memorize.
Twice-Exceptional (2E) & Learning Differences
"Twice exceptional," or "2E," means a child is gifted but also has a learning difference like dyslexia, ADHD, or a non-verbal learning disability (NVLD). They can be very strong in some areas and need extra help in others because they learn differently.
If this sounds like your child, contact Dr. Snyder.
Putting the "I" Back Into the IEP
Collaborating with educators, administrators and families to develop holistic, relationship-based learning plans that truly prioritize the student.
Group Sessions
Various group sessions, available in person in Los Angeles and via telehealth, covering topics such as parenting, giftedness, 2E, ADHD, and high-functioning ASD for adolescents. Other groups, including parenting groups, are forming as well. Subscribe below to hear when new groups are forming.
The heart of my work
"In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while
the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to
deal with a world that no longer exists."
Eric Hoffer
The Snyder Relational Learning Method
More than tutoring. A relationship with
learning itself.
The most important thing anyone can learn is how to be a learner. Dr. Snyder's
method starts with your child's relationship to learning, because a young person
who feels capable grows differently than one who feels defeated.
01 · The whole child
Every plan starts with who your child is
Their age, history, family structure, academic strengths, temperament and presenting concerns, not just their grades. Understanding the whole young person is what makes the strategy work.
02 · Strengths first
"Strengths to support their stretches"™
Dr. Snyder helps parents and children recognize that their strengths far outweigh their stretches (areas for growth), then leverages those inherent talents to navigate challenges in the classroom and in social settings.
03 · A better relationship
With class work, teachers, and learning style
Students learn to improve their relationship with their class work, their teachers and their own learning style, so progress continues long after the sessions end.
04 · A true partner
Not a traditional instructor
Rather than teaching at your child, Dr. Snyder serves as a partner in their educational journey, and parents are part of the team from day one.
Collaborative Team Approach
"We All Need A Launchpad"™
Understanding that fear can be a barrier to progress, this collaborative team approach ensures no child feels alone in their struggles. It fosters faster growth and deepens the connection between parents and their children.
What working together looks like
Every family's journey is different
Some families need a single conversation. Others build a partnership that carries
their child from middle school through college. Here is what the relationship can look like.
A few sessions
Focused guidance
A parent consultation to make sense of a specific challenge, targeted support before a big test, or help preparing for an important school meeting.
A semester to a school year
Building momentum
Regular one-on-one sessions that build study skills, time management, confidence and emotional resilience as your child takes on the school year.
Years of partnership
A trusted teammate
Many families stay for the long haul. Some students have worked with Dr. Snyder for five, seven, even eight years, growing from struggling learners into confident college students.
However long the journey, the goal is the same: a young person who believes
"I can handle this," and a family that feels supported at every step.

What families say
Trusted by parents and students alike"
"Leslie was a super star in every aspect: she gave us practical tools to work with our son at home and also served as a productive and collaborative advisor in our communication with the school. We are incredibly grateful for her expertise, compassion, and commitment to our family. We cannot thank her enough!"
Parent, parenting work
"I worked with Dr. Snyder for seven or eight years, and that experience truly changed the course of my life. I had always struggled with ADHD, reading, and studying. Through our one-on-one sessions, I developed strong time management, writing, and study skills that I continue to rely on today. More importantly, I gained a sense of self confidence that I don't think I would have achieved without her support."
University student, long-term client
"Dr. Snyder has been working with all three of our twice exceptional children for five and a half years. All three are unique individuals with their own strengths and stretches. Dr. Snyder has unearthed their capabilities and has taught invaluable strategies to help them succeed in school and life. She also has an infectious laugh!"
